I've taught at 3 other schools, and Sunnyside is by far the best. This is the best environment for learning I've ever seen.

SKA Academy of Art and Design is taking steps to provide the best we can for our students, parents and teachers. We are proud to announce that SKA Academy officially organizied our own Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) on January 2010!

PTSA is the nation’s original parent group of schools, supporting and encouraging millions of parents to get involved in their children’s education. It is also a national, not for-profit organization which means that neither the organization or its leaders make any revenue or receive any financial benefit from the organization’s activities. The PTA is composed of units that are supported by a national and state system which provides them with information, resources and training. This organization, run by volunteer teachers and parents of the school is in turn led by volunteers.

PTSA knows that advocacy works. Members of the organization who are working on issues affecting their children’s education receive the information and training they need to work effectively at the local, state and national levels. Projects include school funding, school construction, school safety, high-quality teachers, after-school programs and more. These efforts benefit all children in the school, including those whose parents are not members of PTSA because our mission is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

SKA would like to encourage middle and high school students to join in the PTSA Officer position to gain leadership experience which is very important for their future. Studies show that academics are not the only skills necessary for employment, good leadership skills are important as well.

At SKA, we work with students. We encourage each child to identify problems, find solutions, and to plan and implement programs and activities independently, SKA hopes that organizing this PTSA will bring even more benefits to the classroom, and and allow us to continue to improve our services, resources and quality education. Parents and/or students interested in participating may contact SKA office for more information at skaptsa@skaacademy.com or 470-545-3202.

SKA Academy has officially organized our own National Art Honor Society (NAHS) and National Junior Art Honor Society (NJAHS) on February 2012!

NAHS and NJAHS programs of The National Art Education Association. Whereas art scholarship, service and character are qualities worthy of acknowledgement, NAEA grant through these charters the privilege to establish and conduct the SKA Academy Of Art and Design for Middle, Junior High School and High School Students by the National Council.

SKA would like to encourage middle and high school students to join in the NAHS Officer position to gain leadership experience which is very important for their future. Studies show that academics are not the only skills necessary for employment, good leadership skills are important as well.

At SKA, we work with students to encourage each child to identify problems, find solutions, and to plan and implement programs and activities independently. SKA hopes that by organizing the NAHS, it will bring even more benefits to the classroom, and allow us to continue to improve our services, resources and quality education. Parents and/or students interested in participating may contact SKA office for more information.
